  • Leadership Development – Leadership success requires the ability to connect with others and maintain positive relationships across the organization. Industry knowledge, job skills, and strategy are not enough to motivate and empower teams to excel. Great leaders interact with intention by developing self-awareness and demonstrating emotional intelligence in constantly changing, complex environments to lead their organizations more effectively. Birkman provides an unmatched assessment portfolio with in-depth reports for leaders to gain actionable insight into their motivators, behaviors, and blind spots. Identify the gaps between how you’re perceived and what you need to increase your effectiveness as a leader. Then build on this foundation and tailor your leadership to meet the underlying expectations your direct reports will need to drive organizational success.
  • Talent Development – Organizational Success depends on motivated employees that drive success across all levels of the organization. Our clients harness Birkman data to accelerate individual growth for employees through personalized coaching. Birkman provides in-depth, tailored data sets that accelerate employee growth, manage blind-spots that can hinder development and success, and recognize the motivators that drive career decisions. Harness a more complete understanding of your employees’ behaviors and viewpoint compared to the workforce as a whole to boost morale and develop your talent. Research studies show that a leading reason employees left jobs in 2018 was due to a lack of career development opportunities. Today’s workforce is looking for growth opportunities
  • Team Effectiveness – 84% of the global workforce is not fully engaged. Of the 16% of employees that are, their role on a team is a critical factor that drives engagement. Collaborating with team members who have different communication styles and work preferences is a key organizational challenge. Birkman enables high-performing teams to achieve greater productivity in the workplace by helping individuals with diverse personalities and motivations align. Through greater awareness and appreciation for individual differences, teams can increase their resilience and success.
  • Hiring and Selection – Searching for the ideal candidate is a lengthy and challenging process—hiring someone that possesses the job skills, interpersonal competencies, and aligns with the organization’s culture demands extensive recruitment and organizational resources and often results in a high margin of error. Technical abilities and industry experience are important factors to consider, but won’t optimize the hiring process to maximize employee retention. High-performing employees need passion to feel satisfied and motivated, technical skills to accomplish tasks, and a high degree of self and others awareness to navigate interpersonal dynamics. These critical factors are underpinned by unique sets of behavioral traits inherent to the individual. There is no “right profile” that guarantees success, and stereotypes can be misleading.

What Does Birkman Measure?

Usual Behavior

Usual Behavior drives how people perceive us, both at work and in our personal lives. This facet of our personality represents how we are typically most productive, how others see us, and what we look like when our lives are in balance.

Your Usual Behavior reflects your natural strengths and keeps you motivated when successfully applied in the workplace. When your social expectations are not met, you’re at heightened risk of entering Stress Behaviors and becoming unproductive.

When Usual Behaviors are in contrast with the oppositional workstyles of others, the interpersonal dynamics that result are a common source of misunderstanding, misperception, and conflict.

Needs and Stress Behavior

Our Needs reflect the social expectations we consider truth. Highly individual, Needs can vary greatly among any group of people. They represent how we perceive the world, how others should treat us, and the work environment in which we are at balance, motivated, and effective.

Stress Behavior represents the most ineffective aspects of individual personality. When our Needs go broadly unmet, our reactions to work and social environments are less likely to be productive and more likely to lead to failure and conflict. Understanding the underlying causes and manifestation of Stress behavior helps us self-manage and increase our emotional intelligence to be more effective.

Interests

Interests reflect the activities you naturally gravitate towards and enjoy. At work, engaging your interests can motivate and keep you productive. When you spend time on your interests outside of work, you feel more balanced and energized when you return to your job.

Interests can influence what team members prioritize and the perceptions of how coworkers focus time and energy, leading to behavior consequences. We measure ten Interests including Outdoor, Scientific, Technical, Persuasive, Social Service, Artistic, Literary, Musical, Administrative, and Numerical, helping you connect each of these to occupational data that can increase your success.
